Kaushal began his career as an actor in India’s prestigious National School of Drama (NSD) in 2001. After graduating from NSD, Kaushal made the move to Mumbai to pursue a career in cinema. He started out working on stage play adaptations such as Chauthi Koot (2002), which was later turned into a successful television series.

In 2007, Kaushal made his feature film debut with the indie drama Gangs of Wasseypur, which went on to become a critical and commercial success. Gangs of Wasseypur

Wasseypur, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, is one of India’s most notorious districts. The town and its environs are home to a number of gangs that have terrorized the local populace for years. In 2008, the infamous Thugs of Wasseypur made international headlines when they brutally killed six people, including two children, in a series of murders that shocked the nation.

Vicky Kaushal first came to prominence in 2008 as one of the Thugs of Wasseypur. Prior to that year, he had appeared in a number of minor roles in Hindi-language films. However, it was his performance as one half of the murderous duo known as Karla and Balbir Singh that made him an overnight sensation. In 2011, Kaushal won acclaim for his role in Omkara, which tells the story of an artist who falls victim to societal pressures and commits suicide.

Despite earning international acclaim for his work in Omkara and other roles, Kaushal has largely avoided acting since the release of Thugs of Wasseypur. He has instead focused on his music career and continues to tour across India.
